There have only been two meetings so far with the Sixth Graders at Tibbets both of which have been very enjoyable.  I think that the students are excited about doing lit circles.  There has been a lot of build up for this and now on our next meeting we will finaly dive into the book Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix.  I think that the students will enjoy reading and discussing this book.

Today we met together and the sixth graders finally got to get into their books.  I found that they really enjoyed reading and discussing the chapters we read in Among the Hidden.  The students really got into it even the ones that don't talk much gave some input.

Un fortunantly I missed today due to illness.  I found that there were only two of my classmates working with our group and they said that it went over really well.  I wish I could have been there.

The students seem to be drawn in to answering questions by the teachers and not working with one another.  I think that the best thing for us to do in the future is to model a lit circle as a group in front of the students so that they can see what it is that they are expected to do.  It's like we tell them all these things that we want them to do and yet we donj't show them how to make it work.  I think that if we had one good time modeling a lit circle infront of them that they would catch on a lot faster.  We may need to get them started and then sit back and watch them work.  All in all they are a good group of students.
