David Catrow

catrow_david.jpg

Catrow is a self taught artist and illustrator. He said his favorite subject in school was math because that is where he spent a lot of time drawing. Two of his works have been chosen for New York’s Best Illustrated Books. Catrow works as a political cartoonist and there are over 900 newspapers that print his Political cartoons.

Catrow is married and has two children. He lives in Ohio and he also has a Springer Spaniel named Bubbs that always ends up in his books somewhere. His career started out as a paramedic and he did that for over 10 years until he finally surrendered to his passion of art. His illustrations resemble Dr. Seuss, but they have a flavor all their own.

Who is Lemony Snicket really? There have been many strange events or should I say unfortunate events happen as a result of this person Lemony Snicket. His bibliography states that he was probably born before you and will probably die before you.

Lemony Snicket is actually a pen name for Daniel Handler. Handler started using the name Lemony Snicket and sometimes will appear as Lemony Snicket’s representative for interviews. Daniel Handler was born in 1970 and raised in San Francisco, where he lives now. He is married to his wife Lisa Brown and they have one child.

Handler uses writing to expose evil wherever he finds it, and that is his guiding principle to produce his works. Handler has produced many works, but is famous for his A Series of Unfortunate Events written under his pen name of course Lemony Snicket. Handler didn’t start out wanting to write children’s books, but his editor convinced him other wise. To his surprise, it was a success. Handler has also produce a few novels that are for Young adults and adults. They are The Basic Eight, Watch Your Mouth, and Adverbs.
